Fondazione Hermann Hesse Montagnola
Aim and Board of Foundation
On July 2, 1997, thanks to a private initiative and the management of an association, the Montagnola Museum Hermann Hesse was founded. The Fondazione Hermann Hesse Montagnola, established on January 1, 2000 and represented, among others, by the Hesse Family, the Town Council of Collina d'Oro and the City of Lugano, keeps alive the memory of the writer and painter Hermann Hesse.
The Foundation manages the Museum in Montagnola. With its 14'000 up to 20'000 visitors a year, the Museum has become one of the most attractive cultural places of the Cantone Ticino.
Moreover, the Fondazione Hermann Hesse Montagnola allows the Museum Hermann Hesse to carry out a wide cultural programme, with readings, lectures, exhibitions and numerous events on various themes related to Hermann Hesse, shown in Switzerland and abroad in collaboration with many museums and other cultural institutions.
