Typical Hesse?
Hermann Hesse as an archetype in Gunter Böhmer’s work
Museum Hermann Hesse Montagnola
Exhibition

Curators: Heidi Kupper, Alessandro Soldini and Regina Bucher.
A display of mostly previously unshown works, which are related to Hermann Hesse, will celebrate Gunter Böhmer's 100th birthday anniversary (1911–1986). Hesse – who had been neighbour and friend of Böhmer since 1933, when the artist moved to Montagnola – soon became a model for his sketches, drawings and illustrations, as well as for portraits, often as a "typical character".
Hesse's characteristic physiognomy was often humoristically emphasized, thus reflecting the intimacy between them.

In collaboration with the Fondazione
Ursula & Gunter Böhmer, Gentilino and the support of Julius Bär Bank.

Museum Hermann Hesse Montagnola, 20.30
Musical reading from Hesse's short stories

The town of Calw presents itself within the town twinning Calw- Collina d'Oro, Hermann Hesse's Ticinese adopted home town.
Hermann Hesse's short story, Eine Fussreise im Herbst, was written in Gaienhofen, in 1906.
In the description of the town, the final destination of the walking tour, it is easy to recognize the surroundings of Calw.
Yet it's not sure whether the love story the narrator would like to put an end to in this town is based on Hesse's own experience.

Calw, Aula am Schießberg, 20.00
In relation to the town twinning of the two communities, Collina d'Oro presents itself.

Hermann Hesse often explored the topic of obstinancy in his reflections and short stories, in particular as something related to what he had experienced himself.
Both in school, and in his conflict with his parents, as well as during his life when he stood as an individual never afraid of expressing his own opinion against the majority – Hermann Hesse went his own way, in spite of many obstacles.
With Antonio Ballerio (Italian), Graziella Rossi (German), Harry White (Saxophone).
